Here is a testimonial from a Dad with a son in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Program, which is housed at the Wallace School. The ABA program is designed to support children with special needs.
I don’t think we found Wallace ABA, I really believe that Wallace ABA found us. We moved to Hoboken for one main reason, proximity to NYC. We moved to Hoboken before my son, Alexander, even turned one and not only did we not know about Wallace ABA, we had no idea he was autistic. A year later, as my son was turning two years old, we noticed that he was not progressing as he should. We reached out to the early intervention program and from that point on, he was diagnosed with autism. On his third birthday, Alexander was able to attend school, and that school was Wallace ABA. Now as he is turning six, we don’t live in Hoboken because of it’s proximity to NYC. We live in Hoboken because we fell in love with the school and we fell in love with the Wallace ABA program.
My favorite thing about Kindergarten in the Wallace ABA program are the teachers and the aides. I am always impressed and grateful for their enthusiasm. I love the way they nurture my son but, at the same time, challenge him. I love that they don’t just go through the motions, but are always trying to improve upon what my son already knows. They truly care for and love my son and it shows in the way they teach and the way they interact with him every day.
Alexander has grown tremendously. His speech continues to improve every day. He is excelling at math and as he masters one level, they push him to the next. He is actually writing words, in upper and lowercase. He could not even hold a pencil prior to Kindergarten; this is truly amazing. They also focus on his eating, so now he will eat and really enjoy the variety of fruits and vegetables we give him. And one of his favorite foods now, and favorite to say, is pasta e fagioli.
As a family, we absolutely love the Kindergarten ABA program at Wallace. As parents, we love how our son continues to advance, both socially and academically. We love that we constantly get feedback on his progress and if there is an issue or concern it gets addressed immediately, with our feedback as parents and his teachers’ feedback. We all truly work together as a team for the betterment of our son. It’s also great hearing directly from him how much he loves school, how he is excited to go there in the morning and how he explains things he does during the day at night. His favorite shirt is his I LOVE WALLACE t-shirt from field day.
